RV, Camper, Trailer & Food Truck Vents & Hardware

RV roof vent and RV roof vent covers measuring 14" x 14" are standard on most RVs and trailers.  Most 14-inch roof vents are manufactured by only a few different manufacturers. The most common RV vents are manufactured by Ventline, Jensen and Elixir. Knowing the manufacturer brand name of the actual RV vent and the year of manufacture of the RV vent is critical for determining the correct part when replacing a damaged RV roof vent lid, vent fan, crank or operator. The type of hinge that you find on the original RV roof vent cover will need to match exactly the hinge on the replacement vent lid.  Please use the reference chart below to help identify the RV roof vent cover hinge type with helpful photos and diagrams, then choose the correct RV roof vent for your application.  We also carry the popular 9" x 9" roof vent found on pop-up campers and tent trailers, escape hatches and powered RV roof vents like the Ventline powered roof dome, Fan-tastic non-powered vents and the Create-A-Breeze powered RV roof vent.

Replacing Your RV Roof Vent Cover Basic Instructions

  1. Looking for a replacement RV roof vent cover, then you need to know that matching the type of hinge is the most important factor in choosing between the different RV vent covers. There is no way to tell just by the make/model/year of your RV which RV roof vent may have been installed by the factory or during replacement throughout the lifetime of the camper. The comprehensive illustrated chart above shows all the hinge types and their corresponding vent cover model numbers that will work for your style of RV roof vent.

  2. Purchase your replacement RV vent covers from HannaRV.com, and take advantage of our free and fast shipping while you gather supplies and prepare for your camper vent lid replacement project.

  3. Access your RV roof using the RV’s rear ladder or a securely placed roof construction ladder. You may need to make several trips to bring along the necessary tools (i.e. screwdrivers, hammer, putty knife, etc.), replacement vent lid, caulk or sealant, roof cleaner, etc. or enlist the help of an assistant.

  4. Next, remove the old or damaged RV vent cover by removing the hinge pin and any mounting or retaining clips. If your RV roof vent has a screw on each side of the hinge to secure it in place, remove both screws before removing the vent lid from the hinge assembly.

  5. You may need to straighten the tabs on either end of the vent lid hinge portion that is connected to your vent cover in order to complete removal of the old RV vent cover, depending on the hinge type your RV roof vent. Disconnect the operator from the metal slide in the center of the old vent lid.

  6. After the vent cover has been removed, prepare the replacement vent cover for installation.  Reconnect the operator into the metal slide in the center of the new vent lid.  Straighten the tabs on either end of the vent lid hinge portion connected to your vent cover, place over the RV roof vent hinge and bend the tabs to secure the vent lid in place.

  7. Replace the RV roof vent cover hinge pin and any mounting or retaining clips. If your RV roof vent has a screw on each side of the hinge to secure it in place, replace both screws into the vent lid hinge assembly.

  8. Now that your RV roof vent has a newly installed cover, you may choose to perform a little maintenance around the vent itself while you are still up on the roof.  Using a premium RV roof cleaner and rag, clean away any dirt from around the RV roof vent seam. Remove any loose caulk or sealant. Re-seal the RV roof vent seams, edges, corners and screw holes using a quality self-leveling lap sealant to provide a waterproof seal to protect your roof for months or years to come.
