Trailer Jacks, Couplers, & Winches
Trailer Jacks
A trailer jack lifts and lowers your trailer so that you can connect the coupler to the hitch ball of your vehicle, and it keeps your trailer level when it is not in use. It is important to select the proper jack for your application so that moving and storing your trailer is safe and easy. If you have a have a small utility trailer, you will likely use a bolt-on tongue jack to move the trailer around and keep the tongue off the ground during storage. Scissor jacks are raised and lowered with a hand crank, and they give added stability to travel trailers, fifth wheels, horse and cargo trailers.
Trailer Couplers
A trailer coupler is the component that is placed over the trailer ball to connect the vehicle to the trailer. The trailer's coupler size determines what trailer ball you will need (the coupler and ball must be the same size). It is important to make sure that the coupler handle is securely fastened and properly adjusted to the trailer ball. Most couplers feature heavy duty safety latches or locks that prevent accidental detachment. It is important to select a coupler with a weight capacity that matches or exceeds your towing needs.
